How To Overcome Limiting Beliefs and Step into Your Power
We can often find ourselves on a hamster wheel when it comes to overcoming limiting beliefs. And that’s because our limiting beliefs are often unconscious, and we don’t even realise we are operating from them.
An example of this could be having a desire and passion in life, a calling that absolutely lights our soul up, yet every time we put ourselves out there or take a step toward success, we are abruptly pulled back by that nagging voice within telling us we aren’t good enough. Thoughts like "we would be silly to try," or "everyone else is better," plus any feelings of unworthiness are limiting beliefs. These beliefs are 99.9% of the time completely untrue and are solely based on unconscious beliefs embedded in our psyche at a very young age (hello impostor syndrome!).
Understanding and Identifying Limiting Beliefs
Overcoming these beliefs is possible, but when core beliefs are so deeply and unconsciously embedded within us, it can be challenging to access and release them. How can we release something we don’t even know we have? This is where I am a HUGE believer in psychotherapy or the Jungian approach to therapy. This specific modality works to access the unconscious parts of ourselves, so that we may see them for what they really are and become aware when they are triggered and activated.
The Role of Psychotherapy
I have been in psychotherapy for about a year and have learned so much about my self-defeating thoughts, patterns, and behaviours.
Personally, I find psychotherapy works so well with other modalities such as spiritual healing, somatic healing, breathwork, meditation, and all the practices that make positive changes in our lives.
Gaining Awareness
Once we find that golden nugget of awareness, we are now in the driver’s seat. We will notice more and more when we are operating from this unconscious and limiting space. The awareness alone takes away the power, and we no longer need to identify with these beliefs.
We can see them for what they are: nagging, untrue beliefs that someone placed in our deepest psyche long ago (probably lifetimes ago, as well as early childhood in this lifetime).
As the grip loosens, the beliefs lose their power, and we can start to shine like the stars we came here to be.
Embracing Your Innate Gifts
Our souls know what we want and what we came to do. Our souls know our innate gifts are powerfully real, and when we have the space within to feel and believe this, we can literally achieve anything we dream of!
If something is not meant for us in this life, we surely won’t have a calling or longing desire for it. The soul is much too wise for that type of silly game. You are drawn to specific crafts and talents in life because you are meant to be doing them!
Becoming Whole
The challenge is digging deep enough to know all of yourself, light and dark. Calling back all the fragmented pieces of your precious self that have been chipped away over the course of many lifetimes and creating a ‘you’ that is WHOLE.
Breathwork journeys are a brilliant way to help access these stuck, frozen feelings. If you’re interested in breathwork, I am here to help! Visit my About Breathwork page to find out more.
This earth game is one of the toughest in the universe, so give yourself a big ol' pat on the back and a hug because you are so much stronger, wiser, and more powerful than you could ever imagine! It is all waiting to be discovered within yourself.
Ignore the Naysayers
When we think of life on earth like the game it really is, this can help with motivation to not give a f*ck what anyone else says!
No one gets to dictate who you are or what you should or shouldn’t be doing! If you have haters, that’s actually a good thing! It means you have something that others want badly.
Don’t worry about people who waste their time judging others instead of looking within. They are the true jokers, and you are the hero of your journey! So much love!
