Holistic Wellness Tips for Busy Lives

Life can get so overwhelming and full in today's go-go-go society where work and producing are often still valued over peace and presence. It is so important to find ways to calm, ground, and centre yourself even in the most hectic of times. I wanted to share some of my favourite ways to ground and centre myself when I am flat-out busy with everyday life. It is not about how much time we put into our wellness that matters as much as the intention and presence while doing the things.

My Top Tips for Holistic Wellness

Pause and Take a Breath

A 5-minute deep breathing pause will instantly calm your entire system and being. This can be done in the toilet, at a desk, or while doing household chores – just always remember to sit down when doing prolonged breathwork of any kind.

If you think you don’t have 5-minutes to spare, think about utilising your time when doing other things, like in the shower or in the car when you’re picking the kids up from school. Simply slowing down or stopping and allowing yourself to feel your feet on the ground, connecting with the earth (if you can), is therapeutic. Taking a moment from the workday or busy parenting day to go stand outside, let the sunshine kiss your body, intentionally smell the air, and listen to the sounds of nature around you—the rustling of tree leaves, birds singing, wind blowing—these simple steps can make a world of difference in our peace of mind and calmness of the body.

Body Scan

While you’re taking 5-minutes a day to pause and breathe, do a gentle body scan. A deep-breathing body scan is a mindfulness practice that combines focused breathing with a mental scan of the body to promote relaxation and awareness of physical sensations. Start from the top of your head and mentally scan down to your toes.

This can be repeated anytime throughout the day and allows us to come back to the present moment, and return to ourselves and our bodies. Connecting to the present allows us to show up more authentically and from a place of love, truth, and inner wisdom.

Body Tapping

Intuitively tapping the body is so powerful for stress and anxiety relief, and again can virtually be done anywhere and anytime. EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), or simply put, tapping, is similar to the breath in that anyone and everyone can access and utilise this, without needing a ton of time or finances—the power and tools are innately within us, we only need to trust ourselves and our healing power. Consistency is key, regardless if it’s five minutes or five hours a day—repeatedly showing up for yourself is where the magic happens!

Journalling

Jotting down any struggles, insights, confusions, questions in a journal or notepad is super therapeutic. Anything that pops up in your day that needs attention or answers can be written out in a practice called ‘free writing’, where we simply just write. This can become super fun as we uncover answers within ourselves that we may have felt needed to be outsourced before! You don’t even need to know what to start writing, just let it flow and see what happens.

Morning Sunlight

Allowing the eyes to get fresh sunlight and air before artificial screen lighting first thing in the morning is so beneficial! The sun is a giant ball of free energy! Soak that up! Allow the energy to penetrate your eyes and revitalise your body, both physically and energetically. This can also be done 30-minutes after sunrise or 30-minutes before sunset when the sun’s light is less harsh.

Ocean Dips

Salt water is so cleansing—a dip in the ocean or a salt bath is magic for cleansing off energy and clearing our field and mind.

Mantras

Repeating mantras throughout the day whenever we feel uncomfortable or uneasy is a great tool to keep us steady and grounded in ourselves, no matter what the outside circumstances are. Some of my favourite mantras are, “I am enough,” “I choose joy,” and “I am connected to the universe.”

Remembering and honouring that we are fully in control of our energy, no matter what life or others may present us with, is not always easy. However, we can find the path a little bit easier when we implement small positive practices into our routines. Find what works for you and make them part of your day-to-day!

If you’re unsure where to start your healing journey, book in for a Guided Meditation Session or a Breathwork Journey with me and we can go from there.
